Mikkel is a photographer based in Denmark with a passion for landscape, travel and wildlife photography. He is self-taught and has been recognized with several international awards, for example Nordic Nature Photographer of the Year 2020, ND Awards 2019, Sony World Photographer Award 2018 and International Photography Award 2018. Lofoten in northern Norway is one of Mikkel’s top travel destinations and he also teaches landscape photography workshops there.
Q&A
- How did you start with photo/video?
I started out with nightlife photography. Later, I combined photography with my love to the nature and being outdoors. I really fell in love with landscape photography after a trip to Lofoten in northern Norway back in 2016.
- How would you describe your style?
Focus on strong compositions with interesting foreground or natural leading lines that guide the viewer’s eye through the photo.
- What inspires you?
The Nordic nature and peaceful moments inspire me.
- What is your dream shoot or project?
I am dreaming of a trip to either Greenland or Svalbard.
- What is your best advice to others that want to develop as photographers?
Shoot as much as possible! Find inspiration from other photographers and develop your own style over time. There is endless material on YouTube that often can answer your question. It takes time to become a great photographer, it will not happen over night.

My wide-angle lens.
